LETTER: Citizens should see where every tax dollar is spent

Re: "Unrealistic to hold tax increase at zero per cent," The Gazette, Letters, Sept. 14.

Letter writer Don Bokenfohr agrees with the mayor and wants higher taxes. He writes: "I would hope more people would look at how to increase our revenue." It sounds like he is talking about the solar farm that will require fossil fuels to make the infrastructure and will lose money and benefit only the utility company. Gee, what a great idea.

People really need to wake up and listen to the large discussion around the world regarding "green energy." Globally, trillions of taxpayer dollars go to "green" corporations and governing bodies that are not accountable and produce nothing and no significant impact on CO2 levels. The war on CO2 is laughable. It is a building block of all life. There are more trees today then 30 years ago. There is plenty of pollution that must be reduced — the silence on chemicals in our water and food is very telling.

A citizen should be able to see where every single tax dollar is spent, then we would see how gross and vast the waste and corruption is. Our political structure is inherently corrupt. We need to take a deep dive into the truth. The next time you want to trust a politician, don't.

Marc Racine, St. Albert
