Phyllis Robertson is to be applauded and admired for enlightening the public as to how our loved ones are lacking in professional care and attention. For whatever reasons this happens, it most certainly is not acceptable. As the article suggests, there are hundreds of thousands of baby boomers such as myself who will require care in these facilities in the future; is this what we have to look forward to and who is going to look out for us? Sadly, not everyone will have the assured comfort and dedication of such a loving and devoted advocate and caregiver as Phyllis is for Duncan. It has been my sincere pleasure to know Phyllis and Duncan for many years; both genuinely beautiful people. For Duncan, a most kind and gentle man, to become aggressive is simply unimaginable. More than likely, the frustration of being unable to express his physical needs would be closer to the reality. Patience, respect and compassion are a part of the job in caring for those in need. God willing these attributes can be remembered and allowed for during these times of maintaining the dignity of our aging loved one.
