Alberta confirmed a man in his 60s with underlying health conditions has died from COVID-19. Two more Albertans remain in intensive care.

“This is extremely sad news and all of us involved in Alberta’s COVID response feel this very deeply. All of our thoughts are with this man’s family and loved ones. AHS assures me they are supporting them in this difficult time,” Hinshaw said.

Alberta’s chief medical officer of health and officials will provide an update on COVID-19 and the ongoing work to protect public health.

Albertans can use the service to check symptoms, book appointments, see a doctor, and get prescriptions and referrals for diagnostic imaging and specialists, which is all covered by Alberta Health Care.

Pharmacists are initially going to be limited to screening and providing information about COVID-19, but Alberta Health Services (AHS) and the Alberta Pharmacists’ Association will remain in close collaboration on how to expand the role if needed.

St. Albert is listed to have one person with COVID-19, while the west Sturgeon area, which includes Morinville and Bon Accord, have two people with the virus.

“Per capita we are testing more than any jurisdiction in North America,” Hinshaw said.
