A steady wind chill of -19 will be accompanied by heavy snowfall in St. Albert Friday, according to Environment Canada.
“Snow, at times heavy, will continue today bringing total accumulations of 15 to 20” centimetres, reads the snowfall warning issued at 2:29 a.m.
“Snowfall will reintensify this morning bringing another 5 cm before tapering off this afternoon.”
The agency warns rapidly accumulating snow could make travel difficult over some locations.
The snow is expected to continue through to Saturday afternoon, when the temperature will plummet to -18 C. A wind chill factor of -19 in the morning and -28 in the afternoon presents the risk of frostbite.
Lower temperatures are expected to persist through next week.
