WASHINGTON (AP) — For the first time ever, two Black women were elected Tuesday to serve in the U.S. Senate, while voters also sent a transgender lawmaker to the U.S. House of Representatives.

Republican Rep. Mike Kelly won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Kelly, 76, was running for an eighth term in his Republican-leaning district in northwestern Pennsylvania. Kelly beat Democrat Preston Nouri.

Democratic Rep. Sanford Bishop won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Georgia on Tuesday. Bishop, 77, is Georgia's senior member of Congress.

Republican Rep. Kevin Hern won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Oklahoma on Tuesday. He defeated Democrat Dennis Baker, a former Tulsa police officer and FBI agent.

Republican Rep. Jake Ellzey won reelection to a U.S. House seat representing Texas on Tuesday, defeating Democrat John Love III to secure a third term in office.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Republican U.S. Rep. Andy Ogles has won reelection in Tennessee while facing an FBI investigation into his campaign finances.

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Florida voters rejected ballot measures Tuesday to protect abortion rights and legalize marijuana, handing victories to Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis and solidifying the state's new reputation as a conservative stronghold.

Republican Brad Knott won election to a U.S. House seat representing North Carolina on Tuesday, flipping a Democratic-held seat. Democratic Rep. Wiley Nickel did not run for reelection.

Kamala Harris won Colorado on Tuesday, picking up the state's 10 electoral votes. Colorado was once a purple state, flipping between Democratic and Republican presidential candidates, but it has shifted blue in the past two decades.
