Judy Wurst passed away suddenly on November 21, 2023, at her home, in St. Albert, Alberta. She was born on May 17, 1953, Peace River, Alberta. She was raised in Peace River surrounded by her family and friends, and had all of her children while living there before moving to Hinton, Alberta in 1983 and then to St. Albert, Alberta in 1990.

 

She is survived by her husband, Al; her children, Jim (Kirby), Trish (Chris), Michael (Maggie), and Teresa (Clinton). She had a special relationship with her nephew, Roy (Wendy) and their family, as well as her great nephews: Josh (Jessi) and Cole (Megan) and their families. She will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Maddison (Mya), Kenzie, Allyson, Matthew, Harrison, Jackson, and Alice. She is also survived by her sisters: Dorothy (Dale), Donna (Joe), Roberta; her brothers: Dennis (Grace), Gerry (Victoria), Richard (Carmen) and Leonard; along with numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 

She is preceded in death by her sister, Carol, and her parents, Rose and Bill Wurst.

 

Judy had a love of travelling and enjoyed spending time in warmer climates with her family. She enjoyed reading and spending time growing flowers in her yard and having family and friends around for barbecues and conversations. She took great pride in her home and being the host for Christmas and family celebrations.

 

Judy began working at the St. Albert Inn and Suites in 1990 and continued working there until her retirement in 2019. Judy loved her work and making connections with her coworkers and clients. She made many friends in her time there and was known to take on a motherly role with the younger staff. She was known as the “Queen Bee” and the sound of her heels clicking on the floors as she bustled around was well known by everyone there.

 

She will be dearly missed by all those who knew here. A Celebration of Life will be held, at the St. Albert Inn and Suites, in the Grandin Room, on December 7, 2023 from 2pm-5pm. Everyone is welcome to drop in and share stories.
