1974-2025
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, the family of Steven John Krembil announces his passing on August 9, 2025 at the Misericordia Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta.
Steven is survived and will be deeply missed by his beloved son Jayden, parents Barry and Shirley Krembil, brothers Kyle (Miyuki) and David (Amanda) and his special nieces (Aika and Lauren) and nephews (Raiki and Ellis), as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. His extended family were always there for Steven with encouragement and love.
Steven’s life was a challenge for him, especially over the past 27 years. Following a tragic motorbike accident in July 1998, his life changed considerably, leaving him as a paraplegic and bedridden. He faced these challenges with determination, courage and never lost sight of hoping that one day he would walk again and be able to fulfill his dream of a career in welding. His sense of humour was always there despite the pain he suffered on a daily basis. His caregivers always marvelled at how he handled his daily trials without complaint. His best friend, Davinci, an Alexandrine Parakeet, kept him company each day, never leaving his side.
A special ‘Thank You’ to Steven’s caregivers, his medical team for their compassion and unending support, and to the ICU staff at the Misericordia for their kindness, understanding and professional expertise.
Steven will be laid to rest at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Edmonton, Alberta.
