(November 2, 1965 – November 20, 2023)

A beloved husband, father, stepfather, grandfather, brother, son, and a source of inspiration to all who knew him, passed away November 20, 2023. Despite the challenges he faced, Morgan’s courage, strength, positive attitude, and sense of humor shone brightly throughout his courageous battle with ALS.

Morgan is remembered with love by his wife Mari, as well as his children, Lucas and Lexie Siegel, stepsons, Breton (Ashley) Walker, and Chase (Nicole) Walker, his mother, Shirley Anne Welch, and his siblings, Mona (Gary) Hoekstra, Kevin Welch, Colin (Orsolya) Welch, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Morgan held a special place in his heart for his six beloved grandchildren, Cade, Taylor, Austin, Simon, Hadley and Oaklyn, whose presence brought him immense joy. Morgan was predeceased by his father, Gerald Joseph Welch, and his sister Kari-Anne Margaret Bourdage.

Morgan enjoyed his many years at Enbridge and developed some wonderful friendships.

Morgan had a love of sports and was particularly good at golf. As his disease progressed and he was no longer able to play, he channelled his enthusiasm into organizing golf pools and even delved into NFL pools to engage his mind.

Family was paramount to Morgan, and he shared a close bond with his immediate family, who provided tremendous support during his illness. Morgan cherished moments spent with his grandchildren, especially enjoyed watching his oldest grandson play hockey. Morgan travelled, exploring different countries and culture and enjoyed attending ballgames in many stadiums across the United States.

Through Morgan’s journey, he imparted valuable life lessons to those around him. He reminded us not to postpone our dreams, to embrace the present, and to appreciate life’s simple joys, like taking those long walks we often promise ourselves. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, a tribute to the resilience of the human spirit and a poignant reminder to savor life’s fleeting moments.

In lieu of flowers, we kindly ask that you honor Morgan by spreading kindness in your own way. Whether it’s a simple act of generosity or a helping hand extended to someone in need.

A Celebration of Life will be held on December 2, 2023 at 11 am and will take place at the Belvedere Golf & Country Club, 51418 AB-21, Sherwood Park, AB T8B 1K9.
