1948 - 2024
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Cathy Visscher of St. Albert, AB on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at the age of 76 at Sturgeon General Hospital. Cathy was born on January 5, 1948 in Bolwsord, Netherlands. She came from a family of five children; she had three brothers (Randall, Paul and Ralph) and one sister (Annette).
Cathy was predeceased by her parents, Oepke and Riemke; brother Paul; sisters-in-law Sandra, Cathy and Marguerite; brother-in-law John; nephew Brad; niece-in-law Charlaine; great-nephew Nathaniel. Cathy will lovingly be remembered by her husband of 56 years, Henry; daughter Julie (Jamie); sons Travis (Carissa), Matthew (Michelle), Daniel (Natalie); grandchildren Jessi Anne (Jacob), Austin, Aaron (Lou), Levi, Hayden, Reid, Sahara, Cole, Mackenzie, Cori, Charlotte, Theodora, and Hauke; nieces, nephews and many friends.
Cathy loved curling, tennis, playing cards, sewing, shopping, watching the grandchildren in their many sporting endeavours and spending time with friends and family. She valued and cherished special relationships in her life and was blessed with lifelong friendships.
Cathy was a woman of faith and taught her family the value and peace of a loving relationship with Jesus Christ. She created many lasting relationships through attending the St. Albert Christian Reformed Church along with the St. Albert Alliance Church.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the Sturgeon General Hospital for their care and compassion during Cathy’s last days.
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date, scheduled for the Spring of 2025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Parkinson Association of Alberta.
