1946 – 2024
On Tuesday, August 27, 2024, after a long and fulfilling life, Cees peacefully passed away at the age of seventy-seven. He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife of almost fifty-three years, Paulette; and their beloved sons, Ian (Marijke) and Neil (Natasha). Cees's legacy will continue to live on through his grandchildren, Adriana, Sierra, and Keshia, who brought him immense joy and laughter.
Born into a large family in Nieuw-Vennep, Netherlands, Cees was the youngest of fourteen siblings. In 1967 Cees made the courageous decision to immigrate to Canada. In Canada, Cees met the love of his life, Paulette Borle. Their connection was instant. They married and settled down in St. Albert, where they raised their family and created a welcoming home for all who knew them.
Cees's open-door policy was legendary. His home was always filled with friends, family, and neighbours, who were greeted with warmth and hospitality. He had a gift for making everyone feel comfortable and included, creating an environment where people could truly be themselves. Family was everything to Cees, and he cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His unwavering dedication and affection towards his entire extended family were truly remarkable.
Cees's absence will leave a profound void in the hearts of those who knew him. Yet, his memory will continue to inspire and guide them. His unwavering kindness and commitment to family and friends, and his infectious laughter, will forever be remembered.
