Carolyn Ruth Shirton died peacefully on September 16, 2024, after her courageous battle with lung cancer. She was in her 82nd year. Carolyn was born in Beamsville, Ontario to Ashley and Ruth Elliott on August 27, 1943. She is survived by four siblings, William, Roderick, Mary-Ellen, and Murray.
Carolyn married Wayne Shirton on November 3, 1962. They had four children, Anne (Rick), Jeffrey (Leanne), Mary (David), and Joshua (Tiffany). Adding to the list are 11 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. Wayne and Carolyn were partners in life and in ministry, pastoring churches in Ontario, British Columbia, and Alberta. Carolyn was a deeply committed Christian, teaching women’s Bible studies, Sunday school, and special children’s meetings. She was an able teacher and possessed the gift of personal evangelism. There are many people in heaven today because of her evangelistic fervour. Carolyn was a true Christian not just in conversation, but also by the life she lived. Carolyn will be remembered by all for her kind, gentle, and loving spirit. She was very loved by her family and friends and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Celebration of Life will be held on October 26 at 1:00pm at Faith Community Church in Edmonton
