August 23, 1949 - September 10, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and much love that the family of Alben Robutka announce his passing following an accident on September 10, 2024.

Alben will be lovingly remembered by his wife Wendy and his sons Ryan (Nick) and Jarod (Steve), as well as numerous relatives and friends. He was predeceased by his father (Mike), mother (Annie) and two brothers (Phil and Jules).

Al was born in Wadena, Saskatchewan and grew up on the family farm. In 1972, he married Wendy Werlin and they lived in Saskatoon, Calgary, Edmonton and Morinville before settling in St. Albert in 1986. Alben retired from Canadian National Railways in 2005 after a 32-year career as a conductor and spent his retirement keeping busy with odd jobs, travelling and spending time with his family and friends.

Donating blood was important to Alben throughout his life, giving blood over seventy times. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for cash donations to the Canadian Blood Services.

A celebration of life will take place on Friday, September 20, 2024, at the Century Casino in St. Albert at 24 Boudreau Rd. between 5pm and 8pm.
