It is with great sadness, that we say goodbye to a loving & devoted husband, father, brother, brother-in-law & friend to so many people.
Chris was an avid golfer, patient fisherman & hunter. His love of the great outdoors was apparent to everyone who knew him. He loved his time working with R Angus & Finning as a heavy duty mechanic, Service Manager and Sales Representative for 40 yrs. His hard work & dedication to his job was highly complemented by colleagues & customers. Chris often said that he loved his job and he never wanted to retire. He embraced everyday with a zest for life that some of us can only dream of. Sadly, Chris was afflicted with a debilitating stroke in March of 2018 & was forced to quit work and start his long arduous journey to recovery, but he never gave up and gave 100% everyday with a smile on his face. In November of 2022, Chris was diagnosed with a fatal brain cancer and passed away three short months later. His courage and strength through the indignities of his life were an example to all of us.
We will always remember your jolly demeanor and loving heart. How blessed we all were to have you in our lives. The world will be a sadder place without you in it, but we will never forget the love and happiness you brought into our lives and we are all better people for having someone like you to show us who we all should be.
Rest now Sweet Angel and know that we will love you for always & forever.
Chris leaves behind, his wife Cherie, son Aaron & daughter-in-law Leslie, his beautiful grandson Zachary, brothers Curtis & Carey (wife Kim & niece Samantha), brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Barry & Shirley Lester, brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Ron & Sharon Szmata, nephew Robin Mercier (wife Alissa, Elliott & Ivy), niece & godchild Suzanne Mercier, brother-in-law Richard Mercier, neice Penny Szmata & Scott, nephew Dustin Szmata (wife Kyla, Kale & Kasen), uncle Doug & aunt Adeline Stone, aunt Iris Smith, uncle Andy Paliwoda, uncle Tony Paliwoda, godmother Wanda Kisorek & many cousins, friends & workmates.
Chris was predeceased by his parents, Mike & Julie Paliwoda, grandparents Stanley & Rose Slotiuk, grandma & grandpa Paliwoda, mother & father-in-law, Matt & Doris Szmata, uncle John Szmata, uncle Dennis Slotiuk, uncle Walter & aunt Mary Sacilowski, uncle Ben & aunt Charmaine Paliwoda, uncle John & aunt Ann Paliwoda, uncle George Paliwoda & uncle Leonard Paliwoda.
Chris' Celebration of Life will be held on June 24 at 2:00pm at Evergreen Funeral Home & Cemetery, 16102 Fort Rd NW Edmonton, AB.
