It is with deep sorrow that we announce the unexpected passing of our cherished Kathleen Ann Nichol on August 22, 2023. Affectionately known as Katie, she was a remarkable individual whose presence profoundly impacted the lives of all those fortunate enough to cross her path. Born September 6th, 1992, her life's journey unfolded entirely within the community of Sturgeon County and St. Albert. She attended both Sturgeon Heights School and Bellerose Composite High School, where she excelled academically, earning a place on the honor list during her junior high school years.

Katie's spirit burned passionately, leading her on numerous adventures with her family, including many cherished vacations to places far and wide, including memorable visits to Disneyland, a place she held dear. She shared a passion for motorsports with her family and friends and spent many days at the track with them as the family’s biggest cheerleader. However, her interests extended far beyond the racecourse. From a very young age she had a fervor for riding snowmobiles and quadding. Many of our family’s treasured memories include not only Katie riding around incessantly at the family cottage with her brother, but also many trips to the mountains to watch Katie explore many trails and carve through the deep snow like the true enthusiast she was. We won’t forget the numerous “father and daughter” road trips all across North America on various adventures, experiences that will forever connect Katie and her family.

Animals of all kinds held a special place in Katie's heart. Her boundless compassion led her to rescue and care for countless creatures during her regrettably brief yet impactful time among us. She shared a unique bond with her Grandma Berg, spending numerous hours together exploring garage sales, shopping, and simply enjoying each other's company.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Zayne; her grieving parents, Todd (Shelly) and Tammy Nichol; her devoted brother, Cory (Mary); and her loving grandparents, Ken and Dianne Nichol. As we mourn Katie's untimely departure, we also remember her dear uncle, Shawn Nichol, and her grandmother, Marie Berg, who welcome her into their eternal embrace. She also leaves behind Tyler, Zayne's father, as well as an extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, stepsiblings, step grandparents, and a very large group of close friends.

While Katie's journey was shorter than we would have hoped, the brilliance of her spirit will continue to illuminate our lives. May she find eternal peace, and may her legacy inspire us to live with the same limitless love that she so generously shared with us all.

In lieu of floral offerings, we kindly request donations be made to Second Chance Animal Rescue Society in memory of Katie.
