Donna Elaine McMartin, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2024, at home, in the company of family and friends. Born on April 29, 1944, the only child of Joe and Elsie Piska, Donna's journey of 80 years was marked by unwavering love, dedication to her family, and a generous spirit that touched the lives of many.
Donna is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Howard, and their two sons, Jay (married to Nona) and Lee (married to Dawn). She was a proud grandmother to Cohan (Breina), Kenzie (Ryan), and Lane (Kate), who will miss her caring spirit.
Donna's professional life was characterized by her supportive roles at Edmonton Catholic Schools, where she worked until her retirement. Donna's many colleagues will remember her for her helpful nature and her ability to uplift those around her.
Outside of work, Donna's passions were many. She relished in the joy of cooking and entertaining for family and friends, always eager to share a meal and create memories around the dinner table. Her culinary talents were a highlight at gatherings and a source of comfort for those she loved. Donna also found happiness in the tranquility of Baptiste Lake, where she spent many cherished moments, and in the warmth of Mesa, Arizona, where she and Howard enjoyed their winters following retirement.
Donna's life was one of engagement and enjoyment, always making the most of the time she had with those around her. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her. The family would like to send sincere thanks to all those who provided support and friendship to Donna over the last few years as she dealt with multiple health issues.
Rest in peace, Donna Elaine McMartin. Your memory will always be cherished.
A Celebration of Life for Donna will be held Saturday, February 1, 2025, 1:00PM at Sturgeon Valley Golf and Country Club, 25114 Sturgeon Rd, Sturgeon County, AB.
