It is with deep sadness that the family of Dorothy M. MacDonald announces her passing on December 9th, 2024 at the age of 95.

Dorothy will be lovingly remembered by her brother Murray MacDonald; her nieces and their husbands, Catherine and Wayne Thomas, and Nancy and Darryl Goede; many relatives and dear friends including Lucille Lawrence, Jean Colberg and Diana Crossin.  Her special great great nephew, Seth Thomas, 90 years younger, will miss his Auntie Dorothy very much.

Dorothy was a resident of Chartwell St. Albert for the past two years.  Prior to that, she was a long time resident of Sierras of Inglewood.  Dorothy moved to St. Albert after her 80th birthday from Winnipeg, where she had lived for many decades.  She was a trailblazer, becoming one of the first women in Manitoba to secure a loan without a male guarantor to purchase her own condominium.

Throughout her life, Dorothy faced numerous medical challenges with courage and resilience.  She was a fighter.  Dorothy's many passions included knitting, jigsaw puzzles, sudoku, walking, acquacizing, reading, travelling, curling and dominoes (played to Dorothy's rules).  She was a stylish dresser and an avid PBS viewer.

She will be deeply missed.

Heartfelt gratitude to her great nieces Jessica Goede Wilson and Claire Thomas and to her great nephews Drew Thomas and Michael Goede for their loving support and to the staff at Chartwell St. Albert for their compassionate care.

A celebration of Dorothy's life will be held at a later date in Deloraine, Manitoba.
