March 30, 1950 – April 5, 2024
David Brian MacDonald, of Cardiff, Alberta, passed away Friday, April 5, 2024 at the age of 74 years.
He was predeceased by his parents Maurice and Edith (nee Mahar) MacDonald. David or Brian, depending when you met him, was born March 30, 1950. He is the third oldest in a family of 13, a much beloved brother.
Moving around as a child from one end of Canada to the other, he eventually met his love, Janet Helmeczi and they married May 19, 1972. Shortly after, they had two children, Katrina and Kelsey. Moving around often in the province of Alberta the family finally settled in Cardiff. David, a Jack of all trades and a master of most, would often help friends and family. Be it car issues, construction or even a place to stay, David was your man. The MacDonald/Mahar sense of humour is legendary and wasn’t lost on David. He always had a smile, laugh, and a quick reply. He could always make you smile, which made it such a pleasure to be around him. David is remembered by everyone who knew him but especially his family his wife Janet; his children Katrina (Jason) Brown and Kelsey (Alex Miledis) MacDonald; his grandchildren Evelyn, Vivian, and Darien. Ever the big kid, David, well loved by all, was a special favourite with his grandchildren. His Christmas decorations and snow mazes/forts will always be remembered. David travelled across North America in his career in construction. He made many friends wherever he was. He was renowned for his work ethic. He also employed many family members and became a mentor to many.
David leaves this world a little darker than it once was and will never be forgotten.
We’d like to thank Foyer Lacombe staff, friends, and family that have prayed, visited, and supported us in these final months. These efforts have given David and his family comfort.
