Lu passed away peacefully at the age of 104 with family by her side.  Lu was blessed with exceptionally good health and the love of a large extended family who will miss her dearly. She is survived by her sister; Edith Wilson, daughter; Joan Duafala, grandsons; David (Irma), Andrew (Michelle), and Mathew (Beth) Duafala; great-granddaughters; Lucy and Maia Duafala, great-grandsons; Lance (Shasta) and Abraham (Jillian) Duafala, and great-great grandchildren; Savannah, Samantha Jane, and Macallan Thomas Duafala as well as dozens of nieces, nephews and friends. Lu was predeceased by her husband; Bruce, brothers; Bill and Charlie Fulcher, and sister; Olive Wiese. Lu said the secret to good health and a long life was to have a shot of whiskey every night before bed. An avid reader, Lu always had a couple of books on the go and was reading up until a few days before passing. She kept a lovely garden and was always in the kitchen baking. She was famous for her cinnamon buns and you could always count on enjoying some of her fresh baking when going for a visit. Lu kept up on current events and always enjoyed having a conversation about the news of the day, politics, or sports, and there was not an Oilers or Eskimos game on TV that she missed.  Lu was fiercely independent and lived her life with a strong will and determination. She had a keen wit and sense of humour that she carried with her to the end. She recently had an eye exam and was told her eyes were good enough to drive to which she quipped “I don’t think anyone wants a 104 year old woman driving.” Lu and her family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, foodservice, and housekeeping staff at Foyer Lacombe for the excellent care and compassion they provided.

At Lu’s request there will be no service, cremation entrusted to Memories Funeral Home. An inurnment will be held at Northern Lights Cemetery.

Donations in Lu’s name can be made directly to the Edmonton Symphony Society, 9720 102 Avenue NW, Edmonton, AB T5J 4B2.
