Gregory Patrick Leonard passed away October 8, 2024 at age 66, surrounded by the love of his family.

He is survived by Brenda, his loving wife of 36 years; sons Alan (Tamara) and Matthew (Kelly); and sister Peggy (Doug).  He was so proud of his grandchildren: Lauryn, Aria, Rebecca, Mila, and Adam.   He also leaves behind a large extended family who will miss him more than words can say.

Greg was born to Mary and Jim Leonard in Chomedy, Laval, where he still has many, many friends.  He loved parties and hockey and was a star player in his teenage years.

Greg found his life’s calling when he joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1976.  He was a proud member of Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry, making many lifelong friends along the way.   Greg’s military service took him right across Canada as he served in many different capacities.  He was a soldier, an instructor, a peacekeeper on many overseas deployments, as well as an administrator.  He was dedicated to his country, his family, and his friends and was a man that could be counted on when a helping hand was needed, no matter what.  Greg retired from the military in 2004 after 25 years of service.

Greg then decided he wasn’t quite ready for retirement and earned his Journeyman Plumber’s ticket.  After 10 years working in the industrial plumbing field and making many more new friends, he finally hung up his tool belt for good.

For the next chapter of his life, Greg chose to become a trophy husband. He took care of everything around the house. From cleaning to pet care, nothing was too big or too small. He even tested out his green thumb for a few months with an indoor hydroponic "garden". He also loved going for a ride on his motorcycle with friends or family.  In the end, spending time with family was what he enjoyed most, from hanging out with his grandkids, to going for a pint with friends and loved ones.

The past three years saw him reconnect with his many cousins in Ireland.  That was his happy place and he visited often.

Greg was a great man. We will miss you, Papa.

Everyone is welcome to join the family for a celebration of Greg’s life on November 30th, 2024 at 1300:
