June 9, 1957 ~ May 23, 2024
It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Daniel Lavallee on May 23, 2024 at the age of 66 years in St. Albert, Alberta. Daniel is survived by his loving wife of 40 years Lynda (nee Cook), 2 sons Christopher (Carolyn) and Marc (Andrea) as well as his grandchildren Brian, Nolan, Wesley, Emmett and Milo. He is also survived by his parents Jean-Paul and Lise Lavallee, brother Patrick (Louise) as well as his nieces and nephews Rosalie, Anne-Sophie, Antoine and Kevin as well as many dear friends. He was predeceased by his grandson Colin in 2019.
Dan came to Alberta from Quebec for a visit in 1981 and his mother was right, he would never move back. In Calgary he met his wife Lynda and they were married in 1983. Along came Christopher in 1985 and the three migrated north to Morinville, AB where Daniel started a long career teaching in Morinville, Legal and St. Albert. In 1990, Dan and Lynda welcomed their second son Marc. He continued teaching after retirement in 2012 as a substitute for the Greater St. Albert Catholic School Division. He loved and dedicated his life to his family and was always supportive of his children and grandchildren and cherished the countless hours he spent with them. His support was greatly appreciated and he will be deeply missed. Daniel also made time to coach multiple sports teams, played fastball and slo-pitch and had annual trips back to Quebec to visit with family and friends. Dan could often be found doing renovations and helping family and friends with whatever they needed, in addition to poker nights with the guys and cruising with Lynda and friends. Dan never met a stranger and was all heart. He worked hard and loved hard and his passing has created a void in so many lives. His greatest gift to those who loved him was he very seldom turned down a request for help.
An informal celebration of Dan’s life will be held at the St. Albert Community Hall, 17 Perron Street, St. Albert, AB on Friday, June 28, 2024 from 7:00 pm – 1:00 am.
In lieu of flowers or donations, Dan would want you to take extra time with the people in your life that matter and not just because he was so frugal. He would want you to tell these people how you feel and how much you love them. Leave nothing on the table as Daniel sure didn’t.
