John Lampey was with a dear friend, playing golf, when he experienced a severe, unsurvivable stroke. John’s life was characterized by humour, faith, and kindness.

Born in 1944 in North England, John and Vin emigrated to Canada in 1969. He worked as a plumber, then pipe trades instructor at NAIT. John earned his Bachelor of Education Degree, then worked as a curriculum developer for Alberta Education Apprenticeship and Industry Training, until his retirement in 2006.  John was enjoying friends, family, church, and lots of outdoor activities in his retirement. He has been a faithful husband for 57 years, as well as loving father for his two daughters, and a championing grandfather for his four grandchildren. John is already very dearly missed by so many!

Those who laughed at his jokes and enjoyed his company are welcome to attend his memorial service on Saturday, June 14th at 10am, at Christ the King Anglican Church in Edmonton Christian High School, 14304-109 Ave, Edmonton.

As John prayed one of his grandchildren throughout her 9 year cancer battle, his family encourages those mourning his sudden loss to donate to Edmonton's Stollery Children’s Hospital or a charity of their choice in lieu of flowers.
