Kremer, Raymond obit

It is with wonderful memories of a life well lived that we announce the passing of our dad, Ray Kremer, on August 14, 2021, at the age of 89. He left a legacy of a joyous and loving heart, a passion for living, a healthy competitive spirit, a calling to leadership and community building, and a rather publicly acclaimed pride in his family. This pride gave us the confidence to dive deeply into our interests, talents, and passions as dad had always done through his farming, ice making, curling and bowling, singing, CB and ham radio, writing and storytelling, and travelling. Dad excelled in many of these endeavors from Canadian curling champion to sharing his beautiful singing voice with family and members of his faith community in Villeneuve for over 40 years. Dad appreciated the joys of life… good movies, good music, good food, good wine, good stories, good company, and a good laugh! Dad’s hard work gifted our family with a great life growing up on our family farm along the Sturgeon River, as well as an instilled appreciation, respect, and love for nature, the harvest, and all God’s gifts. As quoted from his legacy video, “Love is the big thing… you have to show love, and you have to act it and do it. Just be a loving person. You look back and say: 'By golly, I’ve had a good life'.” (Google: Ray Kremer Life Legacy) In Dad’s memory, reach out to those around you in love.

Dad had a two year journey of illness and although he bravely dealt with a weakening body, he was miraculously pain free. The family would like to thank the staffs of Sturgeon Hospital, Glenrose Geriatric Ward, ‘Choice’ Dickinsfield, and Foyer Lacombe Hospice for their quality care, compassion and comfort. Special thanks to Ian Zwing (“Brown Eyes”) for his loving care of G-pa during his months at home.

Ray was predeceased by his loving wife of 37 years, Lorraine (Borle); brother, Al Kremer, as well as many other cherished family members. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: Darrell (Mary Anne), Deb (Ron) Martyna, Janice (Nick) Zwing, Lana Brand (Neil Lightfoot); 13 grandchildren: Brittney, Avery, Haley, Trace, Lori Layne (Nick), Paige, Lindsay (Kevin), Meghan (Thor), Michael (Brittany), Kaitlyn, Ian, Jake (Andrea), Kelaine (Josh); and four great grandchildren: Luke, Harper, Isaac, and Ada; as well as his best friend and companion, Lorette Champagne, and many other dear friends and relatives.

A private family Funeral was held at Holy Family Parish on August 20, 2021. Friends and family will be invited to get together to celebrate Dad’s life at a later date.
