The family of Doris Hayden is deeply saddened to announce that she passed away at the age of

92 on October 9, 2023.

 

She was born on July 31, 1931 in Garson, Manitoba. In 1964, she married Stanley Hayden.

They later moved to St. Albert where they raised their family.

 

Doris had a career as a teacher of math and sciences. She taught in Manitoba (even serving as a rural principal), Edmonton, and St. Albert. She earned Bachelor’s Degrees in Science, Education, and Religious Education.

 

Doris was devoted to her Catholic faith and was a parishioner of Holy Family Parish and St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church. Her Ukrainian roots and community were also important to her.

 

Doris was active in the community as a volunteer. At home, she enjoyed reading, gardening,

and doting on her pets. She will be fondly remembered for her kindness and generosity.

 

Doris is survived by her children Michele, Marisa, and Anders (Fran), grandson Thomas, sister

Mary, and nieces Norma and Lisa and their families. She is predeceased by her husband

Stanley, parents Andrew and Annie, sister Sophie, and brothers John and Nick.

 

A Funeral Service will take place at Memories Funeral Home, 13403 St. Albert Trail NW,

Edmonton on October 26 at 1:00 p.m.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal of the

Canada-Ukraine Foundation or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
