Donald "Don" Hacker, aged 92, passed away on May 1, 2023, in Sidney, BC. He was born on September 12, 1930, in Vancouver, BC, and led a life filled with honor, dedication, and cherished relationships.

 

Don was a man of unwavering loyalty, hard work, intelligence, and bravery. He approached every endeavor with a sense of purpose and determination, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him. As a loving husband, he was devoted to his beloved wife, Eleanor. Together, they created a loving and nurturing home for their children, Jeff, Debbie, and Wendy.

 

Don's service in the Royal Canadian Air Force shaped his character and habits. For an impressive 34 years, he served with distinction, rising from a 17-year-old airman to achieve the rank of Major.  Outside of his military duties, Don had a love for cars and travel that was evident to all who knew him. Whether it was the sleek lines of a Ferrari, the exhilaration of Formula One racing, or the thrill of Stock Car Racing, Don's passion for these pursuits was infectious.

 

Don leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion. He will be deeply missed by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Their lives have been enriched by his wisdom, kindness, and unwavering support. In honor of Don's memory, the family kindly requests contributions to be made to the National Poppy Trust Fund of The Royal Canadian Legion.
