January 14, 1944 – April 22, 2024

We, Heini’s friends, are deeply saddened to announce her death from cancer on April 22, 2024 in Edmonton, Alberta. Heini is predeceased by her husband, Peter. Heini is survived by her brother, Wolfgang (Vivian) and family, and her sister-in-law, Monika (Kolle) and family.

As a passionate traveler, Heini made numerous friends across the world. She leaves behind very special friends Helder in Portugal and Ronni in Scotland, along with many dear colleagues from her days at Syncrude. Her many friends in St. Albert, present and former neighbours, walked with her as she embarked on her final journey on earth. The waters at Fountain Park Pool will be a little colder now without Heini’s warmth and personality.

After growing up in Germany, Heini and Peter immigrated to Canada and were married in Montreal. After her husband’s passing, she chose her friends to make her family. Heini was a truly helpful, considerate and kind person, who was independent and adventurous, had amazing taste in food and wine, and loved to travel. One of Heini’s many gifts was her ability to make friends everywhere she went.

Goodbye, auf wiedersehen, and so long, Heini.

Our heartfelt thanks go to the wonderful staff at the Pilgrim’s Hospice in Edmonton for caring for Heini during her final days. Donations can be made in Heini’s memory to Pilgrim’s Hospice Society https://pilgrimshospice.com/get-involved/make-a-donation/

At Heini’s request, no funeral will be held. Spreading of her ashes, along with those of her beloved husband Peter, will occur on July 14, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at the St. Albert Municipal Cemetery (25116 Poundmaker Rd). Following this, please join us for coffee and fellowship in honour of Heini, at the John Beedle Centre within the St. Albert Botanic Park (265 Sturgeon Road).
