Robert (Bob) Richard Gibbon passed away at the age of eighty-four surrounded by family on May 8, 2024, at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary after complications from a surgery. Bob spent over six decades in the insurance industry and was still an active broker at the time of his passing. Bob was also an avid and lifelong horseman, as he and his wife, Carole, still owned and operated Canadiana Ranches, in addition to Blazer Insurance. He took great pride in his tenure as President of the Insurance Brokers Association of Alberta. Bob loved travelling and he and Carole spent their winters in San Tan Valley, Arizona, in addition to their innumerable adventures across the globe over the last many decades.

He had a love for airplanes in his youth and was a proud member of the Air Cadets, and eventually earned his pilot's licence with their help and sponsorship. He then became a member of the Air Force Reserve.

Part of Bob's love for horses and everything rodeo, included sponsoring the Northlands Chuck Wagon races for many years, being a member of the Sheriff's Posse for even more, and a proud volunteer for Northlands along with Carole, that lasted for over 25 years. He was also head of security at the Canadian Finals Rodeo for several years.

Bob and Carole also had many great memories from their years as members of The Petroleum Club.

Bob was predeceased by his beloved mother, Antonia (Toni) Gibbon, and his father, Matthew Gibbon. He was a loving and dedicated son and visited his mother's grave every Mother's Day and on her birthday. He is also predeceased by his oldest son Robert (Rob) Gibbon, as well as his siblings Eileen Gillard, John (Jack) Gibbon, Ray Gibbon, Jean Denesuk, and Paulette Pointkowski.

He is survived by his wife of over fifty years, Carole; his sister, Laurette Gibbon; brother, Ron Gibbon (Lynn); brother-in-law, Stan Denesuk: brother-in-law, Duane Pointkowski; sons Mark Gibbon (Tasha Vu), Chris Gibbon (Kim); grandchildren Robert Gibbon (Carina), Garrett Gibbon, Hayden Gibbon (Sydney), and Julia Gibbon; and great-grandchildren Madison and Luca. Bob is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews and nieces, and great nephews and nieces.

A celebration of life will be held at Chateau Nova, (13920 Yellowhead Trail, Edmonton) in the Grizzly Room, on Sunday, November 3rd, from 12-3 pm, with a eulogy and memorial, followed with a general visitation with food and beverage.

Bob's family would also like to thank the Gates family, and all of the compassionate medical staff of Unit 94 at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary.
