In Loving Memory of Joyce Irene GENEREUX
March 28, 1933 – January 30, 2025

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joyce Irene Genereux on January 30, 2025, at the age of 91.

Joyce is survived by her children: Ron (Maryann), Carol (Robert), and Glen (Jacqui); along with 9 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

She is now reunited with her loving husband, Henry; her son, Allan; her brother and parents, Harvey, Irene and Otto Sundahl.

Joyce was born in Marwayne, Alberta, and after her and Henry married, moved to St. Albert in 1955. Throughout her life, she was deeply involved in her community, notably serving as the first leader of the Girl Guides. Joyce’s love for books led her to a proud and fulfilling career, working for many years at the St. Albert Public Library and later at Paul Kane High School’s library.

A passionate Edmonton Oilers fan, Joyce enjoyed cheering them on, especially when watching the instant replays. Summers were spent at Island Lake, while winters took her to Yuma, where she learned to line dance, enjoyed making crafts, played bingo, and was an active member of the Red Hat Society. Joyce was an accomplished artist who found joy in painting during her spare time.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations in Joyce’s name to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta. A private family celebration of Joyce's life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements entrusted to Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home.
