1927 ~ 2024

Blanche Gau passed away peacefully on November 18, 2024, at the age of 97 in St. Albert, AB. Born on November 13, 1927, in Broderick, SK, Blanche's life was a testament to her faith-filled spirit and her unwavering dedication to her family, friends, and community.

Her early years were spent on the farm in Vilna and later in Westlock. Upon graduation she moved on to nursing school at the Misericordia Hospital in Edmonton. Her career as a registered nurse spanned several locations in Alberta and British Columbia, where she touched the lives of countless individuals with her care and compassionate heart. Blanches commitment to the service of others extended beyond her professional life as she was an active volunteer with the Norwood Auxiliary and Meals on Wheels and a devoted member of the Catholic Church.

She was a dedicated mother to Maureen, Bob (Louise), and Pat (Gwyneth), and she adored her grandchildren Charlene, Shawn, Jason, David, Caitlan, Renée, Cooper, Laine, and Hueyy.  Blanche was predeceased by her beloved husband of 54 years, Bud, with whom she shared a long and wonderful life.

As we bid farewell to Blanche, we celebrate a life that was rich in joy, purpose and love.  Her memory will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us of the power of kindness and the beauty of a generous heart.

Blanche’s family would like to give special thanks to all the staff and volunteers of the Youville Home for all the care and friendship they gave to her over the past 16 yrs.
