It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert James Ferguson at the Sturgeon Community Hospital on June 19, 2024 at 89 years of age.

Bob was born and raised in Calgary, AB. He moved to Regina, SK in 1960, excited about both a new job at Western Supplies Ltd. (WSL) and playing fastball with the Barker Gems. In 1964 he married Jean, his best friend and devoted wife, who he met working at WSL. His career with WSL took their family from Regina, SK to Dawson Creek, BC to Grande Prairie, AB and finally St. Albert, AB.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Jean; daughters, Bonnie and Patti Ferguson; five grandchildren: Jacob, Alexandra, Maya, Evan, and Dylan. He also leaves behind two brothers, Gordon and Bruce Thompson; two sisters, Barb (Randy) Arrowsmith and Bev (Bob) Hiebert; two brothers-in-law, Ed and Bill Borbely, as well as nieces, nephews, and friends.

Bob was predeceased by his mother and stepfather, Marge and Fred Thompson, his brother Gerry Thompson, his sisters-in-law Kathy and Janice Thompson, Denise and Betty Borbely, and his nephew Christopher Thompson.

After retiring from WSL/Emco, Bob could be found on the golf course or in the curling rink. He was an avid sports fan who loved the Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Blue Jays. In 2009, Bob was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. He was proud to lead our team, Fergusons Against Parkinson’s Disease (FAPD), in the annual Parkinson’s Step ‘n Stride Walk.

A Celebration of Bob’s Life will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. in St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. For those who are unable to attend, the service will be live streamed on their website: connelly-mckinley.com.

If family and friends so wish, donations can be made to the Parkinson’s Association of Alberta, specifically to the Step ‘n Stride Walk for Team FAPD:
