A lovely lady has passed away, leaving us feeling bereft of the impactful presence she had in our lives.

Ann was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal sister and aunt, and a caring friend and neighbour. She was known for giving the best of herself to everything she did, 100% of the time. Whether she was running a household, creating a flower garden, or hostessing family and friends, Ann did it with style and with class.

Ann was born near North Battleford and raised on a farm. After she completed her education, she became a teacher and taught in Saskatchewan until 1954. Ann then left for Keno, Yukon to teach in a one-room schoolhouse.

Ann caught the eye of many, but her heart was drawn to George Esterer, an Austrian chemist working as Chief Assayer for the Mackeno Mines. In June 1957, Ann and George were the first couple to be married in Keno’s All Saints Anglican Church. Ann’s school bell and wedding dress are now displayed at the Keno Museum. When the mine closed, Ann and her husband moved to B.C., then to the N.W.T., and eventually to Edmonton. They settled in St. Albert in 1975.

By this time, Ann and George were successfully running a company they started in 1966. Ann worked tirelessly as the company bookkeeper and behind the scenes. Endura Paint is in its 58th year and still Esterer-family owned.

Ann spent her retirement years wintering in California with George. Some of her favourite activities were exploring new places and going on adventures with her husband. When Ann wasn’t golfing, she was being a top-notch hostess. Back home in St. Albert, Ann tended to her roses while George tended to his winemaking. Their home was always open to family, friends, neighbours and newcomers. Ann was so gracious to all.

Ann will always be remembered by her sons Mark (Shauna), Jay (Martina), and Brent (Jocelyne), and her grandsons Brandon, Jason and Jackson. She will be lovingly remembered by her sisters Helen Ponto and Irene Milligan, as well as numerous relatives and friends.

She was truly a great lady who will be missed by many.

Ann was predeceased by her husband and soulmate George, and by her siblings Mary, Mike, Olga, Ivan and Louise. She will join her husband at the Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum.

Please remember and celebrate Ann’s life in your own special way.
