1936-2023

On March 16, 2023, Don Collins passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side.

He leaves behind his wife of 64 years Wilma, their son Gregory (Ruby), daughter Teresa ( Craig), grandchildren Justine ( Alan), Sydney (Jordan), Jesse and Riley.  He was also a proud great grandfather to 3 beautiful children, Xander, Myla and Zosia.

Born in Priddis,  Alberta he and his family spent his younger years living in Kimberly, Sicamouse and finally settling in Kamloops, BC.
Don joined the Royal Canadian Navy at the  age of 17 and moved to Victoria, BC, where he was so fortunate to travel to many parts of the world.
In 1968 he left the Navy and joined the Canadian Federal Government in Inuvik as a property manager for the next six years.  In 1974 he and his family moved to Hay River and then onto St. Albert, Alberta, where he retired several years ago.  During his career he enjoyed curling and travelling to the local communities to help learn their culture and way of life.

Once retired he became an avid golfer at the Sandpiper Golf and Country Club. He loved to travel and explore the world. As well as spending time with his grandkids taking them to Winks for Slurpees and hiding chocolate bars.

He will be greatly missed!

Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Life will be held in St. Albert in the latter part of May.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Canadian Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation https://cpff.ca/donate/  or a charity of one’s choice.
