It is with great sorrow that we announce that Robert James Clague (Bob) passed away on the evening of December 22, at the University of Alberta, with his loving wife Diana and his children at his side. Bob was 77 years young.
Bob was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and it was there he met and married the love of his life Diana in 1967. They started a family in Winnipeg but moved to Alberta in 1974, soon taking permanent residence in St. Albert.
Bob entered a career in the printing business in Winnipeg and worked his way through a variety of roles in the plant from running printing presses to working in the bindery. In St. Albert, he joined Jasper Printing as General Manager and eventually a Partner. He finished the latter part of his career with Nisku printers. He forged many lifelong friendships over his 50 plus years in the industry.
Bob and Diana purchased a lake lot at Baptiste Lake, Alberta, in 1982 and established a recreational property at ‘Clague’s Canyon’. Bob loved the lake where he was always busy building or working on a project, taking his children out to enjoy a variety of water and winter activities and visiting his many friends for a nighttime campfire and cocktail. Bob loved his family and provided everything they could ask for – family vacations, pancake breakfasts at the lake, amazing Christmas mornings and taking us all over the province for sporting activities. Most of all, Bob loved Diana, for all the love and care they shared together for 57 years of marriage.
Bob is survived by his wife Diana; brother Tom (Emilia) of Winnipeg, children Kevin (Wendy) of Edmonton; Cindy McNeil (Jeremy) of Calgary; and his several grandchildren of his son (Eric, Esprit and Jamie) and daughter (Parker and Hailey).
A Celebration of Life will be announced at a future date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or The Kidney Foundation.
