June 24, 1940- February 10, 2025
It is with great sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of Elly-Mae Cariou on February 10th, 2025, in St. Albert, AB. She was born on June 24, 1940, in Rosthern, SK, to Isaac and Agnes Friesen. Elly-Mae was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a beautiful soul who would help anyone. Her radiant smile lit up any room she entered. Although we do miss her so much, we take comfort in knowing that she is now rejoicing with the angels.
Elly-Mae is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Charles Cariou. She was predeceased by her parents, Isaac and Agnes Friesen; her brothers, Dave Friesen and Jack Friesen; and is survived by her brother, Howie Friesen of Airdrie, AB.
Elly-Mae is also survived by her three children: Greg (Valerie) Cariou, Colin Cariou (Shelly Valentine), and Cheryl Cariou (William Keith), all of St. Albert, as well as 7 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Our heartfelt thanks go out to the staff at Chartwell St. Albert Retirement Residence, the Sturgeon Community Hospital, and the Covenant Health Youville Home, for looking after our Ellly-Mae with such love and care.
A Celebration of Elly-Mae’s Life will take place at 10:00 am, on Saturday, March 15th, 2025, at Connelly-McKinley St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert, Alberta.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's (Dementia) Society of Canada.
