It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Leon (Lazarus) Caplan of St. Albert on May 5, 2023.

Barry is survived by his loving family; daughters Jodi-Lynn, Kelti-Lee (Bob), grandchildren Carson, Tyson and Brooklyn-Belle; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and in-laws that loved him so dearly. He will also be incredibly missed by his work family in Vegreville and across the province.

He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Patricia Caplan (nee Brohman); sister Rita Brohman; and his parents Samuel and Effie Caplan.

Barry was truly the most amazing man who was the epitome of a kind, loving and selfless gentleman. His positivity in life and looking at the glass “half full “ were second to none. Dad adored his family, the “pups” and never took a single moment for granted. He was the most wonderful role model and was unbelievably devoted to his career in radiology. He was still working and said that there was never a day he didn’t look forward to learning new things. For those he has left behind, it is his humor, story telling, and love of life that will be eternally missed. He was and will always be our most treasured dad, Papa, “good natured Barr” and St. Barry.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, May 26 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Albert Catholic Church, 7 St. Vital Avenue, St. Albert. Private interment ito follow.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Edmonton Humane Society.
