JoanieCampbell (nee Haggart) passed away suddenly at the age of 69 in Port Dover,

Ontario on Nov 16th, 2023.

Joanie was born on March 20, 1954 along with her twin sister Jane in Cobourg, Ontario. She is

survived by her husband, John Campbell of Port Dover, Ontario and her daughter, Shauna &

husband Scott Colquhoun of Langley, BC and their son, Joanie’s only grandson, Brodie. She is

also survived by her sisters, Jean Gulley of Port Dover and Jane & Bryan Floer of High River,

AB., sister-in-law, Barb Gamble of Kincardine, Ont., brothers-in-law, Dave Campbell & partner

Cris Caprice of Burlington, Ont., and Jim & Jackie Campbell of Whitby, Ont. Joanie was

predeceased by her parents Robert and Mary Haggart, brother Bob Haggart and sister Jan

Haggart. Joanie is survived by many nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives.

Joanie graduated high school in Ontario in 1972. She immediately started working for the

government first with the Unemployment Insurance Agency in Kingston Ontario and then

moving to Ottawa and working for the RCMP. Joanie found her calling working as a 911 call

taker and special constable. She transferred to Alberta a few years later and continued her

career working in Edmonton, Morinville and finally St. Albert where she achieved 35 years of

service milestone in 2018 - shift work - taking 911 calls protecting the police and the public.

Joanie retired from the City of St. Albert in March 2019 - she was awarded the Emergency

Services of Alberta Medal for her outstanding service. She was rehired in 2019 to perform

casual work until July 2022. Joanie and John relocated to Port Dover Ontario in September

2022.

Joanie loved to golf with John and their many friends. She was passionate about her

grandson’s lacrosse, knitting and creating the most beautiful baby blankets and lap blankets for

seniors and lastly she loved to bake, cook and preserve relish, beets and pickles. She was a

social butterfly and could connect and laugh with everyone. We will miss her incredible sense of

humor, devotion to family and love of all those dear to her.

Joanie’s celebration of life will take place in May 2024 in St. Albert, Alberta.
