In Loving Memory of Yvonne BULL (née Lund)
June 29, 1938 – October 31, 2024
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Betty Yvonne Florence Lund Bull, known to all as Yvonne, at the age of 86. She passed away peacefully in her sleep in the comfort of her home on Mission Avenue.
Born in Bonnyville and later moving to Edmonton, Yvonne settled in St. Albert in 1960. She was a trailblazer, breaking barriers as a single mother, entrepreneur, and active volunteer.
As a single mother, she dedicated herself to raising her four children: Barbara May, Gordon Bull (Tracie), Ronald Bull (Charmaine), and Susan Anderson (Sean). Her love and guidance extended to her six grandchildren: Amanda Maylor (Adam), Deanna May, Colton Bull, Madison Bull (Aaron), Laura Anderson and Tristen Pawlyk; and her three great-grandchildren, Johnothan May-Houle, Marlow Maylor, and Malkin Maylor. She was immensely proud of each generation and held family at the center of her life.
In 1980, Yvonne founded Northern Lights Driver Training, where she taught countless people how to drive with patience and dedication. Her contributions to the community were celebrated when she was named the St. Albert Chamber of Commerce’s Small Business Owner of the Year in 1995.
Alongside her entrepreneurial spirit, Yvonne was a dedicated volunteer. As a member of the St. Albert Rotary Club, she led the Rotary Music Festival, chaired the International Youth Exchange, and earned a prestigious international award for her commitment to the program. She was also active in local politics, supporting many campaigns to help shape the city’s future.
Yvonne formed deep and lasting friendships that she cherished throughout her life. Her lifelong friends, who shared in her many joys, travels, and creative pursuits, were essential to her journey. An avid reader, painter, and gardener, Yvonne found joy in artistic expression, often sharing her work with those closest to her.
Yvonne’s adventurous spirit took her around the world, from the Amazon and the Nile to the Great Wall of China, the pyramids of Egypt, and Antarctica. Each journey added to her collection of stories and photos, which she loved to share with friends and family.
In her later years, Yvonne became a pillar of the St. Albert Seniors Association, helping to commemorate their 50th anniversary by creating a treasured souvenir book that highlighted the center’s history. Known for her kindness and dedication, Yvonne made an indelible mark on St. Albert and will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her.
A celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2024, from 1 PM to 3 PM at St. Albert Curling Club (3 Tache Street, St. Albert). Friends and family are welcome to drop in at any time to share memories and pay their respects.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Stollery Children’s Hospital Foundation or the Rotary District 5370 Charitable Foundation. We invite all who knew and loved her to join us in celebrating her remarkable life.
