1937 - 2023
Dorothy died unexpectedly, peacefully and surrounded with love on April 19, 2023. Predeceased by her husband Ron in 2014, she will be remembered by her daughters Aileen (Ron) and Lori (Tony), her grandsons Joshua and Matthew, extended family and many, many friends.
Born in West Orange, New Jersey, Dorothy moved to Canada after a devastating loss early in her life. Raised and educated in Ontario, Dorothy married Ron in 1958 and they made their way west via Calgary, Edmonton and finally finding home and community in St. Albert, Alberta. She worked in the insurance industry, supported charities and groups, camped, travelled and was passionate about the church and choir.
Dorothy’s life was one of family, singing, friendship, music and faith. She was strong, independent (and opinionated!) and committed to what she believed in, and more than anything she loved a good, long laugh. To say Dorothy and her smile will be missed is an understatement; to us she was truly remarkable.
The family would like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dorothy’s wonderful friends and neighbours; as well as the doctors and nurses at Sturgeon Community Hospital for their kind, compassionate care.
A Celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held June 9, 2023 at 2:00pm at St. Albert United Church, 20 Green Grove Drive, with a reception to follow. Please join us. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.
