April 13, 1981 - August 8, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and fond remembrance that we honor the life of Neil Glen Behiels, a cherished son, brother, and uncle, who, at the age of 43, passed away unexpectedly, yet peacefully in his sleep on August 8, 2024, in St. Albert, AB.

Born to Glen and Louise Behiels in Edmonton, AB, on April 13, 1981, Neil's life was a testament to his innate courage, strength, kindness, generosity, and creativity. A

long-time resident of St. Albert, Neil grew up with the warmth of family, including his loving sisters, Kerry (Michael) and Barbra (Ivan), and later his nephews, Daniel, Andrew, and Gavin. He also leaves behind his niece, Alexandra and numerous other family members. He will be deeply missed. From a young age, Neil was a spirited soul, full of energy, joy, and humor, with an infectious love of life. He later dedicated many years to his community at St. Albert Bottle Refund Center and Campbell Park Bottle Depot, where his perseverance and hardworking spirit was evident, despite being shadowed by persistent health struggles. He suffered much in silence. Neil was a person whose gentle presence often spoke louder than his few words. His courage was matched only by his creative spirit, where he found solace and expression in art, nature, and caring for animals. His creations reflected his intricate thoughts and tender heart. He also enjoyed traveling and spending time with his family.

Now reunited with his grandparents, Oscar and Clara Behiels (Ted Bennett), and Alois and Elizabeth Schafers, Neil rests in eternal peace.

Though Neil's time with us was shorter than we had hoped, his impact was profound.

Neil’s enduring bravery in the face of many challenges is a true inspiration to his family who witnessed his struggles and loved him immensely. Neil, by his very nature, reminded us of the boundless capacity for courage and kindness within us all, and for that, we are eternally grateful. We will remember a soul who was, in every way, a true embodiment of the beauty and resilience of the human spirit.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
