(October 9, 1935-October 24, 2024)
With deep sadness we share the passing of our mother, Lucille (Choch) Bailie. She passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the Sturgeon Community Hospital. She was alert and happy meeting with visitors to the time she slipped away.
Lucille was predeceased by her parents Emile and Rose Cherot and her brothers Ron and Emile (Teab) Cherot.
Lucille was a strong pillar of the family and was very proud of our story of successful immigration to Canada and later Alberta. She shared many stories of the homestead in St. Albert where she started life milking cattle, and riding a horse from the farm to The Little White School.
As a young adult she met and married Stuart Bailie and raised her family of surviving sons, James, David, Bruce and Joseph. The family has grown to include many grandchildren and several great grandchildren, all of whom she loved deeply. Family was her true passion.
Lucille was a dedicated hard working person with a strong sense of independence, an entrepreneur at heart who owned and managed businesses in the restaurant industry. She was a great cook who could, and did, present meals both at her places of work and at personal events that are too numerous to mention but greatly appreciated by those lucky enough to get a seat at her table.
She was a highly social person which drove her love of travel as well, visiting her family’s home in France, and to several destinations around the world. She would leave in any weather and embrace the journey, always the end in mind was meeting up with people with whom she could share stories, history and occasionally a glass of spirits.
At her request there will be no services, rather a small interment as she is returned to rest with her family at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Her smile and quick wit will be missed. Her love of life and values live on through those she’s touched.
In lieu of flowers or gifts donations to LoSeCa Foundation, or Second Chance Animal Rescue Foundation (SCARS) would be welcomed.
