Do you have excellent interpersonal skills and are you very familiar with the community of St. Albert and its residents? Use your skills and connections to help solicit donations of cash, services and gifts-in-kind for the upcoming Alberta 55 Plus Winter Games in February 2011. Assistance also needed with fundraising projects and sponsor recognition. Flexible hours, starting now and continuing until the games.

Do you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and would you like to assist with the learning needs of these adult learners? Help this Edmonton organization to coach and assist students through their learning process in reading, writing or math. One two-hour shift per week, Monday through Thursday, with flexible times during the day or evening.

Do you have some time to share each week with an individual in need of some companionship? Share your gift of listening and good conversation as you visit this client in his home and accompany him for coffee outings. This individual was once a world traveller and likes to discuss travel and current events. Client has an avid interest in all sports, but especially English soccer.

Do you enjoy books and working with children of all ages? Help children go through the library’s Summer Reading Game, assisting them with various activities along the way. Volunteers must have completed a minimum of Grade 9. Program runs June 28 to Aug. 16. Morning, afternoon and evening shifts available, approximately three or four hours each, with lots of flexibility to fit with your schedule and summer holidays.

Volunteer for a week in July at one of the family camps organized by this inner city agency for their clients. This is an excellent opportunity to develop or further enhance leadership, social and interpersonal skills. Volunteers must be at least 16 years of age.

Do you have some plumbing or electrical experience? If so, would you be willing to help this organization on an on-call basis or on the occasional weekend? Call and assist this organization in this maintenance role.

Are you creative with face paints and enjoy children? Volunteer at this children’s carnival on Thursday, July 15 in St. Albert. Event happens mid-day for a few hours and volunteers should be a minimum 14 years of age.

Do you love reading, enjoy crafts and games and have good communication skills? Assist the Edmonton Garrison Library with their summer program “Destination Jungle”, July 14 to Aug. 25 on Wednesday afternoons. Volunteers should be at least 15 years of age and have some knowledge and/or interest in the military community.
