Are you creative with face paints and enjoy children? Volunteer at this children’s carnival on Thursday, July 15 in Kingswood Park in St. Albert. Event happens midday for a few hours and volunteers should be a minimum age of 14 years old.
Do you enjoy children and does being a grandfather to more than 1,500 children appeal to you? This gymnastics club is seeking a retired electrician and/or plumber to assist with facility maintenance at the club. Hours are flexible.
Be a part of this very popular Edmonton summer festival. There are a wide variety of volunteer positions available including event and raffle ticket sellers, greeters at all entry sites, manning the information booth or helping with security, the volunteer tent and at the Safeway Family Pancake Breakfast. Festival takes place July 23 to Aug. 1. Many four-hour shifts to choose from.
Do you have some time to share each week with an individual in need of some companionship? Share your gift of listening and good conversation as you visit a client at home. Choose from one of the following one-on-one opportunities or many others as well — a weekly afternoon visit with a senior who enjoys conversation, playing cards and doing puzzles; a weekly visit with an senior who enjoys conversation and board games or assisting a client with grocery shopping once a month.
Do you enjoy books and working with children of all ages? Help children go through the library Summer Reading Game, assisting them with various activities along the way. Volunteers must have completed a minimum of Grade 9. Program runs June 28 to Aug. 16. Morning, afternoon and evening shifts available, lasting approximately three or four hours each with lots of flexibility to fit with your schedule and summer holidays.
Are you comfortable with public speaking? Volunteer with this organization to present workshops to adults in the community on prevention of family violence. You will also do marketing and public relations for the program, establish community liaisons with interested groups and provide documentation on completed workshops. Complete training provided on family violence and bullying.
This local trail has a 300-kilometre-long, volunteer-managed and maintained wilderness trail that has day hiking, backpacking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in the Edmonton area. If you have a love for nature and the outdoors and familiarity with landscaping tools, then volunteer as a chainsaw, weed eater or power mower operator or general maintenance worker. Shifts can be any day of the week, but are mostly on Saturdays.
