Always on the hunt for interesting subject matter to capture, St. Albert Gazette photographer April Bartlett spotted a pair of coyotes hanging out in an unusual spot —-atop a hay bale.

Bartlett spotted the coyotes Monday afternoon while driving along Meadowview Drive near the Sandpiper Golf & Country Club, west of St. Albert. Unfortunately, she was too far away to get a clear shot.

Undeterred, Bartlett returned to the same spot the following evening and was fortunate enough to observe a coyote capture some food, possibly a grey partridge.

Bartlett discusses being witness to this feeding frenzy in a multimedia presentation.
