Launched in 2005, Stratica Dermatology has been making a difference for patients for 20 years.
Evidenced-based treatments that combine technology with caring healthcare professionals have transformed the lives of people who suffer from skin conditions and hair loss, alongside those that want to show their confidence through cosmetic procedures. Always on the cutting edge of technology, Stratica – along with being one of the few early adopters in Alberta of UVB light therapy – offers a range of anti-aging solutions, tattoo removal, treatment for hair loss, body sculpting, dermatology (adult and pediatric), and more. With a team of dermatologists, general practitioners, cosmetologists, and healthcare administrators, it’s no wonder why Stratica continues to grow rapidly.
On April 28, Stratica opened its St. Albert location.
“Over time we noticed that a lot of our patients were coming from St. Albert and nearby communities. That got us thinking about access—why were people traveling into Edmonton for dermatology care?” says Dr. Laura Soong. “We realized there wasn’t a dermatology clinic based in St. Albert. That means people dealing with medical skin concerns like acne, eczema, psoriasis, or skin checks didn’t have local options. Opening a clinic in St. Albert felt like a meaningful way to fill that gap. It allows us to offer care closer to home for those who need it—whether that’s for a medical condition, ongoing treatment, or just making appointments easier to get to.”
This location offers the full range of services, including the ones that are incredibly popular among patients: PicoSure Pro laser, Clarity II laser, and anti-wrinkle injections.
“The PicoSure Pro laser is a go-to for treating concerns like sun damage, acne scars, melasma, uneven texture, and even tattoos,” explains Dr. Soong. “It uses extremely fast pulses of energy to break down pigment and boost collagen while being gentle on the skin. It’s safe for all skin tones, and since there's little to no downtime, it’s easy to fit into everyday life.”
The Clarity II laser is widely used for laser hair removal, and it also plays a role in managing certain skin conditions like hidradenitis suppurativa (HS).
“Since HS is linked to blocked hair follicles, targeting and damaging those follicles can actually help reduce flare-ups,” Dr. Soong notes. “It's a helpful option for people looking for both cosmetic and medical benefits.”
Stratica is pleased to offer some of the safest and most effective treatments on the market.
“Treatments like PicoSure Pro, Clarity II laser, anti-wrinkle injections, and filler have been extensively studied and are performed by experienced professionals using evidence-based protocols,” assures Dr. Soong. “The value in these treatments goes beyond aesthetics—they can support skin health, boost confidence, and in some cases, like with our Pico Laser, help address medical concerns.”
It’s never a one-size-fits-all solution at Stratica. The extensive range of options along with in-depth consultations ensure every patient gets the personalized approach they need. Treatments are based on skin condition, skin tone, and the overall goals of the patient. The experience from consultation through aftercare is based on personal empowerment and building confidence.
Dr. Soong concludes, “Ultimately, we want people to feel informed, empowered, and safe in the choices they make for their skin—whether that’s addressing a medical concern or simply feeling more comfortable in their own skin. We’re excited to bring this standard of care to St. Albert and look forward to welcoming you to our new space.”
