The lovely weekend weather St. Albertans enjoyed recently is due to give way to rain and snow Tuesday night.
Environment and Climate Change Canada issued a special weather statement for central and northern Alberta Monday afternoon.
The statement, which includes St. Albert, notes a vast rainstorm is set to dampen the region on Tuesday. In the evening, a blast of cold air from the Northwest Territories will make its way south, freezing the rain into snow. Warm ground temperatures mean the federal weather-watchers aren't certain how much snow will fall.
The statement noted poor travel conditions could develop Tuesday night and last into Wednesday morning, and heavy wet snow could bring down tree branches.
