A St. Albert resident has been charged with break and enter, two counts of possession of stolen property, and more after allegedly breaking into a hotel room in Whitecourt earlier this month, RCMP say.
An April 21 news release from the Whitecourt RCMP detachment says Terah Danille Wright, 32, of St. Albert, as well as Dallas Lee Loney, 38, of Edmonton, were arrested on April 1 after a search that included Mounties from two detachments, a police helicopter, and the RCMP's Emergency Response Team.
“On April 1, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., Whitecourt RCMP responded to a possible break and enter at a hotel room on Caxton Street in Whitecourt. Upon arrival, it was learned that the suspects had left the area in a white Ford F250,” the release says. “Patrols of the area were made and the vehicle was later located stuck in a field, where the occupants were observed fleeing into a wooded area.”
“With assistance from RCMP ERT (Emergency Response Team), PDS (Police Dog Services), RCMP Air Service, and members from both the Whitecourt and Mayerthorpe RCMP detachments, the two suspects were located and arrested.”
Wright has been charged with break and enter, two counts of possession of stolen property, possession of ammunition when prohibited, and possession of break-in tools, the release says.
Loney is facing thirteen separate charges, including break and enter, possession of a firearm when prohibited, possession of ammunition when prohibited, damage to property over $5,000, and “numerous traffic offences,” RCMP said.
Wright and Loney were both remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear in the Whitecourt Court of Justice on Tuesday, April 25.
