The wind is expected to pick up to 20 km/h with 40 km/h gusts by 3 p.m.

There’s no time left for summer and you need not wonder why: Thunderstorms could be on the way to St. Albert.

Currently it’s 7.8 C with a 18 km/h breeze out of the southwest at the Villeneuve weather station. It says “sunny” for the moment but nothing lasts forever, as the wind is expected to pick up to 20 km/h with 40 km/h gusts by 3 p.m.

At that time, the 60 per cent chance of showers will morph into a 30 per cent risk of thunderstorms, conditions that are expected to persist until about 8 p.m. The wind will die in the evening.

Today’s forecast high is 15 C. It’ll drop to an overnight low of 3 C by early Wednesday morning. Wednesday’s overnight low to Thursday will be just 0 C, but your smart vehicle console will warn you icy conditions are possible, so you’re covered.

A mix of sun and clouds, for now, characterizes the Environment Canada forecast for the Edmonton region for the rest of the week, with highs in the high teens, pushing toward maybe just one more 20 C next Monday.

Sun is expected Thursday and Saturday, clouds on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
