St. Albert under severe thunderstorm watch

For the second time this week Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for St. Albert, as well as Edmonton and Sherwood Park.

For the second time this week, Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for St. Albert, Edmonton, and Sherwood Park on Wednesday afternoon.

“Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, damaging hail, and heavy rain,” reads the Environment Canada alert, which was issued at 2:48 p.m..

“Thunderstorms have developed in the Rocky Mountain foothills today and will intensify as they move east this afternoon,” the alert says. 

“Some of these thunderstorms are likely to become severe.”
