A St. Albert pediatrician has been charged with sexually assaulting an 8-year-old child, according to a report by CBC.
Dr. Ramneek Mohinder Kumar, 48, is accused of sexually assaulting a child in southern Alberta in August 2015, according to the CBC report. The alleged assault took place while Kumar was on a family vacation, and the complainant was not Kumar's patient.
Kumar practices at the Rivercrest Medical Clinic on St. Albert Trail. He was reportedly arrested at the Edmonton International Airport.
A spokesperson with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Alberta told CBC they have asked Kumar to withdraw from practice, but his name is currently still listed as active on the CPSA website.
Kumar is scheduled to make his next court appearance on April 16 in Pincher Creek.
