A St. Albert man is one of two men charged in an Airdrie house explosion caused by drug production last January.
The explosion occurred in one side of a two-storey residential duplex in the King's Heights neighbourhood of southeast Airdrie on Jan. 31.
At the time, the explosion was classified as suspicious, believed to be caused by drug production.
After a lengthy investigation, RCMP have now charged Matthew Visser of St. Albert and Trevor Urquhart of Airdrie with production of a controlled substance and arson.
It was reported that both men were taken to hospital after the explosion with severe burns. They were found outside the home by firefighters.
The duplex sustained considerable damage - the main floor windows of the home were blown out even though the explosion occurred on the second level. Neighbouring homes were temporarily evacuated.
Visser and Urquhart will be making their first appearance in Airdrie Provincial Court on Sept. 18.
