St. Albert man arrested, charged in $40,000 drug bust

More than $40,000 worth of drugs and two firearms were seized from an apartment in St. Albert on June 17.

A man living in St. Albert on a statutory release for a drug trafficking conviction was arrested on June 17. 

Jessie Louie, 41, was arrested on June 17 after St. Albert RCMP's crime reduction unit, drug unit, and traffic services seized multiple drugs with an approximate street value of more than $40,000 at an apartment in St. Albert, RCMP said in a press release June 22. 

The seized drugs included 381 grams of methamphetamine; 284 grams of cocaine; 65 grams of fentanyl; 1.5 litres of GHB, and 1.72 kilograms of a buffing agent. The seizure also contained a loaded, stolen, sawed-off shotgun, and a loaded Kel-Tec nine-millimetre folding carbine. 

Louie has been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, and numerous weapons offences, said RCMP. He has been remanded into custody. 

He is set to appear at St. Albert Provincial Court on June 28.
